The day out shown in the slides above was another great day of fishing on the good ship MV Spartacus.
Three generations of four different families joined us at 9am at Westhaven Z-Pier with a planned 9:30 departure. As per usual one person was late but a 9:35 departure is nothing to complain about! We headed straight out to where we hoped the fish to be and were not disappointed as only five minutes after dropping anchor, the fish started to bite. For over an hour we were reeling them in with most of them keepers. It wasn’t long before we were even throwing the keepers back as the keen fishermen began to get confident that there were bigger fish out there.
With the changing tide we decided to move as the fish stopped biting and the team started to get hungry. We found a new spot about 15 minutes motoring away and were lucky enough to pick up a couple of Kahawai trolling while we moved to the new spot. Lunch was served upon arrival. A simple meal of fresh veges, parma ham, cheeses and freshly baked breads went down a treat with all the hungry fisher folk, though the keenest of them decided fishing was more important than lunch. Unfortunately they were disappointed as the fish decided not to start biting again until everybody was back from lunch. The first fish to be caught at the new spot was by the smallest fisherman and was the biggest fish of the day.
That’s all for now, the rest of this trip will follow soon.
Hope you will consider joining us at Charter Boats NZ for a fishing trip.
